Officials with the Ohio River Bridges Project just recently released the latest batch of aerial photos, showing the progress of the bridge as of June.

Michael McKay, a spokesman for the project and associate account manager with Louisville-based Guthrie/Mayes Public Relations, stated that the bulk of the work on the bridge, which remains unnamed, is scheduled to be finished in December.
McKay said that the crew is be spending the rest of the summer building the structural steel span connecting the two sides over the river by fall.
McKay also stated that the cable-stays, which support the weight of the bridge, also are being installed, and that installation will continue throughout the summer. Concrete deck panels also will be installed on the main span of the bridge this summer.
According to McKay crews completed blasting for the tunnels, on the Kentucky side in May, and the concrete work was finished in June. Allowing for work to occur on the tunnel’s ventilation, lighting, traffic-monitoring and fire-suppression systems to start. On the Indiana side, paving also should be completed by summer, and crews are working on improving a shared-use path to the bridge.
