Asociacion Argentina del Hormigon Elaborado: National Concrete Convention
Clapen Instruments S.A is an Argentine distributor of analytical instruments and specialized equipment, as well as Giatec’s official distributor in the Argentine market. One of their increasingly popular distribution products is the SmartRock2™ sensor.
During November 16th to 18th, Clapen Instruments S.A representatives showcased the sensor at the Asociacion Argentina del Hormigon Elaborado (AAHE) convention in Mendoza, Argentina. The AAHE is a national event that attracts key figures in the construction industry. Notably, their networking and learning opportunities contribute to the success of the annual event.
The convention’s focus on education and information sharing is evident as the second day is dedicated to lectures and seminars. In alignment with a series of lectures on technological innovation, Clapen representative Ariel Santorio delivered a presentation on SmartRock2™ to an audience of 200 people.
Overall, Clapen’s presence at the AAHE garnered interest amongst government officials and private contractors. One contractor expressed interest in using SmartRock2™ for primary testing in the construction of a jail facility and a government statesperson showed interest in using SmartRock2™ for future projects in the public work sector along the state. Ready-mix producers familiar with the sensors were supportive in providing product testimonials.
“All in all the exhibition was a complete success. We met people we never knew before…” says Santorio. He also confirmed that connections were made with senior members of the Concrete Association.
Santorio is optimistic about 2018 and expects that distributing SmartRock2™ to regional clients will be a growing success. The same enthusiasm is shared by Giatec. As a company, we are confident that our partnership with Clapen will translate into smarter and more productive concrete construction.
Product Profile:
SmartRock2™ is a rugged wireless sensor that monitors the temperature of concrete from its fresh to hardened stage. It also estimates concrete strength based on the maturity concept. The process of using SmartRock2™ is simple and user-friendly.
The SmartRock2™ sensors are attached to the rebar and fully embedded in the concrete during the pour. Continuous readings in-situ are recorded on the SmartRock2™’s internal memory and can be downloaded to any smartphone or tablet via the Android and iOS mobile apps.
