Giatec had a great 2022! One of the highlights was receiving recognition for our efforts toward Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). Giatec received the Hire Immigrants Ottawa Employer Excellence Award for the second year in a row. Likewise, it also received the Best Leader for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion from the Best Ottawa Business Awards. Giatec couldn’t be prouder of this recognition.

It is always so exciting for students and new graduates to get their first work opportunity in their field and see their education being used in real-world tasks and projects. While these young candidates have so much potential and skills at their disposal, it can be very difficult for them to gain this hands-on experience in their field and find opportunities to accelerate their growth and professional development through practical experience. At Giatec Scientific Inc., we understand this struggle all too well. In the early hours of June 24th, 2021, tragedy struck the close-knit community in Surfside, Miami when the Champlain Towers South experienced a partial collapse. This part of the building had 130 units inside and, to the world’s horror, the death toll has been announced at 98 victims.Unfortunately, infrastructure collapses like these are only getting more common. In April of 2021, the Whitehouse released its infrastructure report card with all states scoring between a C and a D-, not inspiring much positivity around the country.
